Requirements for Water Resources Engineering Applicants

Minimum course requirements for water resources engineering applicants are listed below. Applicants who do not meet these minimum course requirements can still be admitted on a provisional basis until the coursework is completed elsewhere or as part of the graduate studies at Penn State.

Advanced mathematics typical of engineering undergraduate programss (calculus through partial differential equations):

  • MATH 140 – Calculus with Analytic Geometry
  • MATH 141 –Calculus With Analytic Geometry II
  • MATH 251 –Ordinary and Partial Differential Equations

One year of physics:

  • PHYS 211 – General Physics: Mechanics
  • PHYS 212 – General Physics: Electricity & Magnetism

One year of mechanics (statics and dynamics):

  • EMCH 211 – Statics
  • EMCH 212 – Dynamics

One course in fluid mechanics:

  • C E 360 – Fluid Mechanics

One course in hydrology:

  • C E 461 – Engineering Hydrology
